"FOOD FOR ALL"
GAKINA AWIYAA OMICIWIN

About Us

Erickson & Area Food Bank Inc. (EAFB) is a non-profit, charitable organization, working to reduce hunger, increase food security, and build resiliency in our region. Our motto is: "FOOD FOR ALL/ 'Gakina Awiyaa Omiciwin'

We are situated on the ancestral lands of the Anishnaabe, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Lakota, Dene and Metis peoples. We serve Rolling River First Nation (Treaty 4), Keeseekoowenin First Nation (Treaty 2), and the RM's of Erickson-Clanwilliam and Harrison Park

We are dedicated to recognizing the harms of the past, and to moving forward in healing and reconciliation. By working together, we will make a better future for all.

Our Vision

"Fostering health, social justice, and long-term food security"

Food Security Projects

Food insecurity is "the lack of regular access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to meet one's dietary needs" (WHO) .

Almost 6 million Canadians experience food insecurity. 1.2 million use food banks. More than half of food insecure households in Canada are working households. 1 in 5 Canadian children live in food insecure households.

Over 30% of Indigenous households are living in food insecurity  (source: madeincanada.ca)

The Erickson & Area Food Bank provides  weekly and emergency food hampers for those in need. We also offer Harm Reduction information and Supplies. We support food security projects (Community Garden, and free Soup/Naboop!), and host a variety of Health and Wellness Programs throughout the year.

Trish Johnson (Board Member)

"I've been a Board member and a volunteer with the Erickson & Area Food Bank  and the Food Security HUB for many years.  For me, being part of this team has brought challenges, but also a lot of joy. I feel connected to my community in  so many ways, and feel that this work is incredibly important. More exciting projects are on the way, so we look forward to sharing those with you .
